The Apple Powerbook (15") that I ordered 2 weeks ago has finally arrived. The longer than average delivery time was because they waited for the new models to be released. Nice! And because all Powerbooks now have Superdrives, I don't need to pay extra for it and get € 200 back.

First impressions? Yummy! The 15" screen is so incredibly crisp and legible it feels like a 17" model. I could drown in it. OS X itself is as good as I expected it to be. Everything is clean and uncluttered. Also notable is the Dutch localization, which feels a lot better than the Windows one.
I've also started looking (and asking) around for those killer apps everyone uses. I already have the Adium IM client and Colloquy IRC. They all look and work nicely and have minimalist interfaces. W00t :).
Update: I just tried out Skyping with the built-in mic. It's nifty to just talk to your screen. There did seem to be severe echo problems with Skype and the built-in speakers, so I had to switch to headphones. I'd expect a nice echo-canceller to be built-in the OS ;).

Keep track dude
You should keep track of all the cool apps you install, it's the best way for the random internet to give you recommendations on what else to install =)
The amazing world of well written (for the most part) mac software is now available to you.
Mac OSX: come for the interface, stay for the software.

don't know if it's any good - but worth checking out probably
Skype echo problems
Skype's echo problems are due to firewall/routing issues. You need to open up a port that Skype generates on your router and the echoing will go away.
Impossible
I'm afraid I can't do that because I'm stuck behind a NAT firewall that I don't control.
There is a echocancellation
There is a echocancellation trigger under Skype sound preferences
Can you point precisely to
Can you point precisely to this echo cancelling setup location within Skype?
Many thanks.
